There has been an influx of viral music videos this year and we’ve still got a few months to go. We know that a lot of the time procrastinating online revolves around YouTube and clicking frenzies, before being sucked into the dreaded ‘dark side’ of YouTube where you feel no one has ever been before.

So we’ve decided to look at the most popular YouTube music videos released this year according to the Billboard YouTube chart (the number of views were correct when we published this!) – the results might surprise you.
Psy – Gentleman – 522,379,992 views
Released in April 2013, this strange video was in the chart for 18 weeks before it fell out of the top 10.
Will.I.am ft. Britney Spears – Scream and Shout – 278,604,099 views
Released in January 2013, it claimed a top 10 spot for 23 weeks.
Pulcino Pio – El Pollito Pio – 255,756,945 views
This was released in January 2013 and was in the chart for 18 weeks.
Pink ft. Nate Ruess – Just give me a reason – 188,972,542 views
This spent 27 weeks in chart after it’s release in February 2013.
Rihanna – Stay – 176,554,038 views
After it’s release in February 2013 this stayed in the Top 10 for 13 weeks.
One Direction – Kiss You – 158,821,499 views
One Direction featured heavily in the chart, but unfortunately we can only include the ones they released this year 😉 Kiss You spent 9 weeks in the top 10 after it’s release in February 2013
Miley Cyrus – We Can’t Stop – 148,359,798 views
This is currently still occupying the number one sport after 9 weeks in the top 10 after it’s release in June 2013.
Robin Thicke ft. Pharrell and T.I. – Blurred lines – 143,820,011 views
Somewhat surprisingly, the unrated version actually has less views after their release in March 2013 – it’s still in te Top 10 after 14 weeks in chart.
One Direction – One Way or Another – 135,172,950 views
The Comic Relief single managed to rack up these views even with only 2 weeks in the top 10 after it was released in March 2013.
Taylor Swift – I Knew You Were Trouble – 132,800,665 views
Swifty spent 18 weeks in chart before falling out of the top 10 after this video was released in January 2013.
Bruno Mars – When I Was Your Man – 124,490,528 views
This spent 17 weeks in the chart from it’s release in February 2013.
Selena Gomez – Come and Get It – 111,618,752 views
Released in May 2013, this video spent 14 weeks in the YouTube Billboard charts before it slipped out of the top 10.
Daft Punk ft. Pharrell – Get Lucky – 111,120,513 views
The official video was released in May 2013 and spent 16 weeks in chart before falling out of the top 10. Fear not, it’s still all over the radio.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis ft Ray Dalton – Can’t Hold Us – 110,201,856 views
This video spent 15 weeks in the chart after it’s release in May 2013.
