Qmee Recipe – Braised red cabbage

Braised red cabbage is the perfect side dish for any festive meal, its vibrant colour and sweet tanginess are paired perfectly with any main dish. This week we’ve found a super simple recipe for this traditional braised red cabbage dish. All you have to do is throw all the ingredients together. This dish can also be made in advance for a stress-free Christmas dinner.
Here’s what you’ll need…
1 red cabbage, quartered, cored and sliced
2 red onions, thinly sliced
3oz dried cranberries
2 Bramley apples, peeled, cored and grated
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1oz demerara sugar
3 tbsp red wine vinegar
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Here’s what you’ll need to do…
1.Preheat the oven to 170C/150C Fan/Gas 3.
2.Mix the cabbage with the rest of the ingredients and put in an ovenproof dish.
3.Season well and cover with foil.
4.Bake for 1–1½ hours, or until the cabbage is tender and juicy.
5.Mix the ingredients together two to three times during cooking.
6.Allow to cool, then store in the fridge.
7.Reheat when needed.
